Vegetarian Pizza

Vegetarian Pizza (Easy Crust & Tomato Sauce) Recipe:

Easy crispy pizza dough:


• Bread flour (or all purpose flour): 3 ½ to 4 cups and some more for rolling the dough
• Extra virgin olive oil: 2 tablespoons
• Instant dry yeast: 2 tablespoons
• Sugar: 1 tablespoon
• Luke warm (about 110 degrees F) water: 1 ½ cups
• Salt: 1 tablespoons



1.Combine flour, sugar, salt, dry yeast in the mixer bowl;
2. Add water and olive oil while the mixer in running;
3. Continue until the dough forms into a ball;
4. Add flour (1 tablespoon at a time) if your dough is sticky and add water (1 tablespoon at a time) if the dough is too dry;
5. Place the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently kneed into a firm ball (for about 3 minutes);
6. Grease a large bowl with some olive oil and place the dough inside;
7. Cover the bowl with a plastic wrap first and then cover it with a towel;
8. Place the bowl in a warm area to let it double for about 1 hour;
9. When your dough is doubled in size place it onto the lightly floured surface and divide it into 2 equal pieces;
10. Cover each piece with a plastic wrap or kitchen towel and allow them to rest for 10 more minutes;
11. Dough is ready to be rolled;
12. Brush the rim of the pizza with olive oil;
13. Spread the pizza sauce (recipe below) evenly onto the pizza;
14. Sprinkle the herbs and the toppings of your choice onto the pizza and top with the cheese; I have used mushrooms, cherries tomatoes, arugula, sharp cheddar, Gruyère and mozzarella cheese.
15. Place in oven and bake 12 to 15 minutes or until cheese is lightly browned and bubbly;
16. Bon appétit!


Tomato pizza sauce:


• Tomatoes: 300 gr (0.66 pounds)
• Fresh or dried Basil: 1 tablespoon
• Garlic: 2 cloves
• ½ Onion
• Dried oregano: 1/2 tablespoon
• Tomato paste: 1 tablespoon
• Dried French thyme: 1 tablespoon
• Salt, pepper


1. Peel and cut tomatoes in halves;
2. In a saucepan heat olive oil on medium heat;
3. Cook chopped garlic and onion for a couple of minutes;
4. Add peeled and crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, thyme, salt and pepper;
5. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 30 minutes!


I use this pizza crust recipe almost every week and try to make it more interesting by trying different toppings for my pizza. my favorite pizza toppings are 4 fromage (four cheese), or artichoke and goat cheese.
